A Website For Your Medical Practice

It’s the digital age, people! Wake up and smell the internet! If your clinic, hospital, or office doesn’t have a website, you are way past due for one. Or maybe you have a website but it looks like it is still from the ages of dial up connections… then you’re in dire need of a facelift. Many people don’t know just how important a website can be to their medical practice. People rely so heavily on the internet these days, that the first thing they’ll do when they’re looking for a new provider or a quick place to receive medical care is hop online to a search engine. They will see which clinics or offices in the area are closest to them, check the reviews, and then check the website. Your website can be the deciding factor of whether or not you get this person’s business. If it isn’t user friendly and doesn’t provide them with all the information they need, you may lose a potential client.

Your website should be engaging, not flat and boring. You can have a minimalist design and still look interesting. Let your web design reflect the personality of your business, but don’t get too flashy or you can come off as overwhelming or unprofessional.

Don’t make it hard to find information on the site. Have simply labeled and prominent tabs that display what information you have on your site. Don’t make patients dig for your hours or a list of what treatments you offer. All of your information should be easy to access and easy for patients to understand. The more user friendly your site it, the better. Most people on your site are probably ill and looking for somewhere to go, so they won’t want to deal with the frustration of clicking through several different pages to find the information they need. Your contact information should be prominently displayed on your site so it is easy for potential patients to find it.

You should also include information about your clinic and staff on an “About Us” page to add some familiarity to your practice. Already having a face to a name can make going to a new physician much less nerve wracking.

Most people are probably going to be looking at your website from their cellphones, so you want it to be compatible with mobile devices. Nothing frustrates a person searching the web on their phone more than coming across a website they wanted to check out that doesn’t work on their phone.

Great features for your site to have are programs that allow your patients to schedule appointments online and patient portals that allow them to access their medical records and pay their bills online. These features cost a bit extra to have on your site, but they are extremely valuable for current and potential patients.

Try implementing all of these aspects into your website whether you are starting from scratch or are trying to revamp your old site. Remember to focus on providing information and a good user experience so that patients will continue to use your website, and your practice.
